Your name is SHALE IMP. You have been deployed on the LAND OF RIDGES AND JELLY. You might have a variety of INTERESTS, but for the sake of the game jam let's just say you ONLY HAVE ONE. Your dream is to be PROTOTYPED WITH YOUR FAVORITE ITEM VIA WEIRD TIME SHENANIGANS. You aren't quite sure what your favorite item is yet, but you'll FIGURE IT OUT WHEN YOU GET THERE. To aid in your pursuit of this goal, you spend your time MURDERING IMP FODDER TO CLIMB THE ECHELADDER. It isn't very glorious, but it must be done. After all, according to your intel, you must CLIMB 10 RUNGS ON YOUR ECHELADDER FOR THE FIRST TWO KERNELS TO REACH PROSPIT AND DERSE, which seems pretty strange but you're NOT VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THIS SORT OF THING, SO PIPE DOWN, IMPETUOUS WHELP. You are also known to enjoy a good PEANUT BUTTER AND VITALITY GEL SANDWICH every now and then, but it ISN'T ONE OF YOUR INTERESTS OR ANYTHING.

- ARROWS / WASD to MOVE
- SPACE to DASH
- Z / J / MOUSE 1 to MELEE ATTACK
- X / K / MOUSE 2 to CHARGE UP RANGED ATTACK
- 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 to SELECT FAVORITE ITEM
POSSIBLE FAVORITE ITEMS
- RAY-GUN: fire a powerful, slow-moving projectile
- METEOR: fire a less-powerful, fast-moving projectile
- BAZOOKA: fire a very powerful rocket that deals damage upon exploding
- SANDWICH: heal the enemy?!?!

- Game idea very loosely inspired by Spore and Lack of Love.
- Title and music inspired by BIT.TRIP RUNNER.

NOTE: The game "ends" (becomes an endless sandbox) upon picking your favorite item.

thank you! this whole thing is set in some vague mspfa universe that i may never fully flesh out but if i ever do then you will certainly find out more…
I LOVE how far the health bars fly at higher levels :3
im so glad someone else appreciates it as much as i do because there was no way i was ever gonna “fix” it
i cant get the bazooka to work it just goes through enemies
(i know i answered this on discord but this is for posterity) they only deal damage when they explode ~1.5 screens away
i understand it now, thank you i am forever enlightened and will continue to play this game till im the strongest imp
